What is distracting you from getting through your decluttering and organizing to-do list?
Several months ago, my husband and I decided to do away with our TV/Satellite/Cable/whatever you want to call it. Our rate was going up, we were annoyed by the lack of shows and movies we liked and we realized there were better things we could do with our downtime and our money.
We don’t miss it AT ALL! Sure, once in a blue moon we’ll sign into someone’s streaming service and look for a movie to watch (and usually don’t find anything) but otherwise we’ve been spending more time listening to music and podcasts, going to events and having simple dinners with family and friends among other experiences.
I’ve also been much more focused on my business in the evenings rather than mindlessly watching a sitcom rerun while trying to take care of my bookkeeping.
I know that many of my clients are distracted by something too, whether it be TV, social media (especially when notifications are turned on), phone and computer games, group texts and chats, etc.
So, if you’re not getting the things you want done, take a look at what’s distracting you and eliminate it, even if just for the short term. That might even mean simply setting time limits in your phone, computer and TV settings to alert you when your allotted time is up for the day. I’ve done that and have also been mindful to charge my phone overnight across the room rather than on my nightstand. It’s helped make me get out of bed right away when my alarm goes off and prevented me from scrolling night and morning!
